According to a study from Dalhousie University, nearly 10% of Canadians consider themselves vegetarian or vegan. Of course, as time goes on, we see that number rise exponentially. With current events, it’s clear that people are more aware of their actions and the impact they have on the environment. Beyond its health benefits, many believe that a plant-based diet can also help save planet Earth.
Vegans, you’re in luck! Soon enough, Toronto will be getting its very first vegan cheese shop. Kira Lancaster, founder and brains behind Wandering Deli (a Toronto-based vegan cheese company) plans on opening up its doors - and it’ll boast 28 dairy-free choices.
Kira recently opened her crowdfunding page in hopes to kick off the opening of her highly-anticipated shop. With a loyal fan base, it’s no surprise that her fundraiser is doing incredibly well. Kira’s work is beyond impressive. She offers a unique line of vegan cheeses, most of which are made out of cashews and almond milk. However, there are also cheeses with a sunflower and pumpkin base (to cater to those seeking a nut-free option).
Her cheese varieties not only look appetizing but are extremely unique and boast out-of-this-world flavor profiles. Be sure to check out her Instagram here! You surely won’t regret it.
